Sugar coated dolls mansion overlooking the Mediterranean Sea
Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild
I was born and have been living 20 minutes away from one of the most beautiful places in the world for over 15 years and have just visited it now, 22 years later!
Yesterday, I've got to explore the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Cap Ferrat and it was wonderful. The villa was designed by a French architect Aaron Messiah for a French socialite Béatrice de Rothschild, so if you're looking to visit an elegant and French styled place with a breathtaking view overlooking the Mediterranean Sea from the top of the hill, this is the place you're looking for.
Not only you'll get to see one of the most scenic views of the Côte d'Azur, you are allowed to visit the villa which remains pretty much as the owner left it - filled with antique furniture, European paintings, and sculptures, and for those into fashion you can even get to see some of her dresses and attire, which is pretty cool. Oh, and I'm not a fan but you might be, she owned an extensive collection of rare porcelain that you can admire there.
And my favorite part... if you like me aren't too into museums but rather wander outdoor, enjoy the sun, breathe fresh air and contemplate a stunning view, then you might want to plan a few hours during your trip to hang out in the nine themed little garden they got here. Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Garden à la française, exotic, provençal, sèvres garden, even a stone garden, and the best one a rose garden!
