Chili Infused Smacked Cucumbers

This chili oil infused smacked cucumbers is likely to be a new taste experience. Infused, yet crispy, spicy with hints of Asia that will make you escape to another land for a moment.

Chilui Infused smacked cucumbers

Preparation 5 minutes - Passive time 30 minutes



1 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp brown sugar

2½ tbsp apple cider vinegar

¼ tsp ground black pepper

1½ tbsp soy sauce

2 tsp hot chili oil

1tsp sesame seeds (for topping)


2-3 persian cucumbers - depending on their size

2 garlic cloves

1 handful coriander - optional


Wash and smack the cucumbers using a rolling pin, chop roughly and place in a bowl

Add salt to the cucumbers, mix so each piece is coated and set aside for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, make the dressing. Crush garlic and whisk sugar, vinegar, pepper, soy sauce, and chili oil

Drain cucumber

Combine cucumber and dressing, add coriander and toss well

Sprinkle sesame seeds and serve as a starter, or to top an asian flavour dish
